We are undertaking a comprehensive lifecycle renewal project at Birches Head Academy to upgrade and modernize the heating distribution system across the site. This project involves the complete replacement of all existing steel heating distribution pipework, the installation of 102 new radiator panels, and the renewal of multiple fan convectors. By updating these critical components, we aim to enhance the overall efficiency, reliability, and longevity of the heating infrastructure.
In addition to the heating system upgrades, the project includes the renewal of pump sets, associated pipework, and thermal insulation within the plant rooms. These improvements are designed to not only optimize system performance but also ensure that all assets are aligned within the same lifecycle rotation. By standardizing maintenance schedules and equipment lifespan, we can significantly enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the long run. Furthermore, these upgrades will lay the groundwork for integrating renewable energy heat sources in the future, making the system more adaptable and sustainable.
Beyond the heating infrastructure, the project also encompasses the renewal of domestic water pipework serving sinks and toilet areas. This aspect of the work involves replacing aging domestic pipework and installing new thermal insulation to improve energy efficiency and minimize heat loss.
To minimize disruption to the daily operations of Birches Head Academy, all work is being carried out during twilight shifts. This scheduling strategy ensures that teaching, learning, and other school activities can continue as usual, without interference from construction activities.
Through this extensive project, we aim to modernize the academy's heating and domestic water systems, improve energy efficiency, and future-proof the infrastructure for potential renewable energy integration.
