Neston Recreation Centre - Equans

AP Mitchell were contracted by Equans to undertake a mechanical and electrical engineering project at Neston Recreation Centre, with the focus of the project being the installation of a new Clade 150kW heat pump to provide heating for this local hub.
The new ASHP replaces the existing boiler setup within the GRP Enclosure boiler room, and connects to the existing Remeha 1000L buffer vessel, providing hot water throughout the main swimming pool area of the Recreation Centre. The heat pump was installed on a custom base within a new compound. The base was constructed from a 150mm layer of compacted hardcore, topped with layers of mesh and 1200 gauge DPM onto which concrete was poured. The heat pump and base were then housed inside an acoustic fence to increase security and reduce noise pollution.
To accompany the new heat pump, AP Mitchell supplied and installed a new Mikrofill 3 pressurisation unit and expansion vessel, and provided new water distribution pipework to serve the new plant.
Further to these mechanical services, we also provided electrical services to the new equipment, including making modifications to the BMS and control panels within the plant room serving the swimming pool.
Combined, these works formed a successful overhauling of Neston Recreation Centre, ensuring this local facility remains functional and operational for many years to come.
